Convert Your File System from FAT to NTFS- WITHOUT LOSING DATA!

What is NTFS and FAT32?

They are formats (file systems) for your harddrive. For Windows 98SE and before, FAT32 or FAT16 is the filetype for your harddisk. NTFS is the standard for Windows XP. People say that NTFS is faster than FAT32, as it is far superior. Especially when defragmenting, FAT32 is way slower.

When Can You Use This?

When you buy a external harddrive, the standard is FAT32. Annoying. Moreover, some WinXP installations (in particular, XP upgrades) are done on FAT32 drives.

So, Why Use NTFS over FAT32?

Let’s say you have FAT32. You want to unrar a large file (> 4 GB) and Windows tells you that you cannot unpack it because you don’t have enough hard drive space. Even if you do, you’ll still generate this error. This is because FAT32 drives do not support large files on it (anything over 4 GB).

Consequences:

I’m not responsible for your actions! When converting FAT32 to NTFS, you WILL NOT LOSE any files or data; however, there’s always the chance that something can go wrong (remember, it IS Microsoft, by the way).

Solution / How to Do It:

You don’t need to install a program to change the filetype from FAT32 to NTFS.

1. Press the Start button.

2. Go to Run…

3. Type in "cmd" without the quotes, press OK.

You will then see this:



4. Go to your C:/ folder, by typing in cd\, (or "cd.."just as long till you have reached C:/ ). See above image. Likewise, type in "cd c:\" works, as well.

5. Go to your "My Computer" icon, and see the name of the letter that stands in from of the drive you want to convert!

6. Back in cmd, Press in "CONVERT X: /FS:NTFS" (without the quotes). The X is for the letter your system drive, or external drive name. (see Step 5)

7. On the question ‘convert lost chains top files Y/N?‘ press ‘y‘ and continue.

8. cmd will now check the file system and the rest. If your cmd finishes, your file system is converted to NTFS. You can close down cmd. (If you want to check if it really did finished, go to ‘My Computer’ and right click on the drive, select ‘Properties’ to see what kind of file system it has).

9. If cmd says: ‘X: was not converted to NFTS, the conversion failed etc, you must follow the next steps!



10. As you can see above, my cmd failed the first time. Next solution.

11. Type in "chkdsk X: /f", where X is the letter of your drive. Wait a while to finish.

12. You’ll be asked to ‘convert lost chains top files Y/N?‘ press ‘y‘ and continue. Wait for it to finish.

13. After this, cmd will say that converting was successful. Check it by going to your computer, and single click on the drive to see what kind of file system your drive has. You may need to repeat step 6.

Working Around Bandwidth Throttling! Bittorrent!

So, you’re encountering issues with slow upstream speeds and it seems like the uploads level off at 0, right? Maybe you’re using Comcast or another similar ISP that is employing bandwidth shaping or using "Sandvine." Damn your ISP! But you aren’t without options! Here are the different methods which people use in an effort to combat these terrible nuisances… and if none of them work, feel free to switch to a different provider in protest or find a workaround that nobody else has thought of.
1. VPN - Virtual Private Network

This will more than likely cost you some extra money a month. You have a few options:

Replace the connection info with whatever VPN you choose for any of these tutorials and it should work.

The upside: This usually works for most people. It’s even better if you have multiple computers and just use one to seed. If you seed with just that one computer, connect to a VPN with that computer. This should give you a constant stream upwards and you’ll get your ratio up in no time. But don’t go into this thinking it’ll uncap your upstream… you can only go the max that your provider gives you up… and sometimes the VPN might limit it a bit lower, depending on the VPN you choose.

The downside: If you only use one computer then most VPN’s tend to have sketchy service. The downstream might be intermittent on a VPN. Sometimes it might be hard to connect to them. That and most of these places you have to pay 5 bucks a month or more. I have the luxury of having a seeding computer connected to a VPN and a laptop that I just use without a VPN.
2. Force encryption

The upside: It’s a free option. It’s a quick fix, if it works out for you.

The downside: A lot of people say it doesn’t really work. But some people swear by it… so give it a shot if you have nothing else to lose.
3. Seedboxes

The most expensive option of the bunch, but a guaranteed success. Here are some host names:

Vectoral, LeaseWeb, Netdirekt, Tzulo, Exportal, OLM.net — There are more and this is a subject you’ll have to research… Basically you are renting out a remote machine that’ll do the seeding for you. You’ll have massive upstream and downstream capabilities, making it easier to get a good ratio. It’s a great option if you have the cash to spend. Here’s a good launching pad on getting to know what a seedbox is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seedbox. More on this at the bottom.

The upside: Insane upstream means you’ll get a great ratio (most places offer a great upstream package, just choose wisely.) It also means that no matter what your provider does to you… it won’t affect your seedbox! Not to mention being able to store your files on a remote computer… that has great advantages.

The downside: Cost… These things can be as "cheap" as 50 bucks a month (if you’re lucky…) but generally range around $85-$90 (US) a month… or more. AND… Most seedbox providers have it in their TOS that they don’t want you using it for illegal files. They can shut off your service whenever they please.
4. SSH Tunneling

I list this one last because, well… I just plain don’t like it. It can cripple the servers of the SSH providers, and make those providers unreliable or force them to take measures as well. If you REALLY want to do this option, and it will cost you at least a buck, then you can read the info over at Torrentfreak. Here’s the link:

5. WIPFW

This option isn’t really all that great because it requires all users to have performed this function before it’ll be any good. Which is highly unlikely to occur… but perhaps it can help you anyway… Go here http://wakarimasu.googlepages.com/home and follow the instructions provided within and it just may help you combat things like sandvine on the comcast network, but I can’t speak for the other ways different ISP’s throttle your bandwidth.

The upside: It’s free. It could completely combat Sandvine on Comcast

The downside: It really only works for "Sandvine" type throttling. Sandvine throttling sends a drop signal to both the receiver and sender so if both don’t have this workaround installed, this won’t work. In a perfect world everyone would unite together, but we all know that isn’t happening. Also, this method isn’t fully tested yet so it’s too early to tell its effectiveness.
SeedBox Provider Recomendations

There are two types of SeedBoxes - you can get Dedicated servers and Virtual Private Servers. Main difference being not only in price but dedicated servers would be like you having the whole server for yourself. While Virtual Private Servers(VPS) is considerably less in price and features but you are sharing this server with others. Most people generally get a dedicated server with people they trust to lower the cost.

Also keep in mind, if the server is cheap it is probably self-managed which means you do everything yourself and pay for tech support! So be careful to not screw up. If this is your first server I’d recommend paying a bit more for windows or having a friend who knows a lot to help you. You most certainly would not want to run torrents on a managed box either.

I’ll update this with more details later, however I personally have heard a lot good about Vectoral. Keep in mind some server hosts do not like torrents.

By now you have probably heard of all of the success stories from entrepreneurs online. You have heard all of the rumors that you can get rich online overnight. The real question you have to ask is whether or not it truly is possible to get rich quick online.

It is a bit tricky answering this question because it depends on your definition of quick. If you are expecting to make thousands of dollars in your first week, it is not going to happen. While there are some legitimate programs that can make you a lot of money, it still takes time.

Even programs like Abunza that can earn you up to $997 on one sell take time. You have to realize that it costs that much just to become a member. This means that even after your first sell you will have only paid off your membership fee.

The reason it is impossible to get rich quick is because there simply is too much to do. To start with, you have to build a reputable web site that is worth coming to. This involves creating fresh and enticing content, building a visually appealing web site, and filling it with interactive items like video and audio.

In the meantime, you want to begin promoting your business immediately. The only way you are going to make money online is by generating a steady traffic flow. If you have no traffic, it is kind of difficult to create any income.

Something many internet marketing newbie’s do not understand is the fact that not all traffic is good traffic. There is such thing as wasted traffic, which includes people who have no interest in your site. It can be quite time consuming trying to find your target market and getting them to come visit your site.

The next thing you have to worry about is responding to any questions people may have regarding your services or products. The longer it takes you to respond to an e-mail or question, the better chance you have of the customer leaving your site for someone else’s.

Earn Money Online With Pay Per Play

An introduction to Pay Per Play advertising - what it is, and how it can help you build up residual streams of income online

There is a new form of Internet Advertising called Pay Per Play. Pay Per Play allows you to can earn revenue from ads that play on your own sites, as well as ads that play on your referral’s sites.

What is Pay Per Play?

When someone visits a website with Pay Per Play code embedded in it, a 5-second audio ad is played. When the ad is played you get a commission. It’s as simple as that.

You are probably familiar with “Pay Per Click,” or “PPC,” where a webmaster is paid every time a visitor clicks on an ad on his site. Pay Per Play is similar, but the webmaster is paid for the times an audio ad is played for the website visitor, regardless of whether the visitor clicks on an ad or not.

One of the main advantages of Pay Per Play is that it does not take up any “screen space” or “virtual real estate.” In other words, you do not have any design issues or “trying to fit it in somewhere”. The ad is purely audio, and there are no visual elements to add to your site.

This also means that visitors will not be led off your site in the same way they are with Pay Per Click advertising. There is no link for them to click. You are paid when they audio is played.

There is, however, a “Key to Page” option, where a visitor would be told to press a certain key on his keyboard in order to get more information. If you opt in to run these types of ads on your site, you will be paid when a person “keys” to the advertiser’s website.

Pay Per Play, or PPP, is powered by a company called Voice2Page.

To set up Pay Per Play ads, all you need to do is register (which is very fast and also is free), and then place the code on the webpage or pages that you want the ads to play on. You can selectively omit pages that you do not want audio ads played on, choose to place the code only on a certain page, or choose to place the code on each web page.

One thing I like about Pay Per Play is that they do now allow sleazy or questionable ads. They will also not play ads on websites with pornographic, illegal, or hate content.

The ads they play are five seconds long. Per survey, five seconds is long enough to leave an impression about the product, but short enough so as not to annoy one. Testing has also indicated that ads of this length do not drive visitors away. There is also the option of placing 30-second ads on certain pages, if you choose to do this. This ads of course pay more.

Why is Pay Per Play such a big deal?

Per marketing trends, the Internet is starting to replace radio and TV to a marked degree. Radio and TV advertising are not as effective as they once were. We see this when we see Internet TV and Internet “radio stations.” Also, more and more people use their iPod, cell phone, or MP3 player to play their custom music. So Radio Advertising is not as effective as it once was.

The larger advertising companies have started to realize this, and thus there is a trend toward moving the main advertising media over to the Internet.

Why do I consider that Pay Per Play might be a sleeping giant?

Pay Per Play is just starting up. They have started running their ads but they are still largely “on the runway.” They are very much in beta, and there are certain steps that still need to be taken before the full potential of the program can be unleashed.

Pay Per Play is a completely new form of marketing. But regardless, their start-up statistics are impressive. It is still in its “beginning stages.” And with these beginning stages comes of course the inevitable - controversy! So you will find plenty of online criticism of Pay Per Play, just as you will find people applauding it.

Personally I think the fact that its beginning stages could be to your advantage. This is due to the following reasons:

1. In addition to commissions for straight Pay Per Play advertising, there is also an excellent referral program.

If you sign someone else up to run Pay Per Play ads, you will receive a commission on all the ads played on their sites in the future. And if that person signs someone else up, you will receive a commission on that person’s ads as well. It is basically a three-tier referral program.

In other words, you could wind up with a lifetime residual income just by signing people up to join the program.

This referral program will not be open forever. When it closes, people will only be able to sign up as ad publishers but they will not be eligible to sign up as referrers who can earn commissions by signing up other webmasters.

That means it is a good idea to sign up now.

Remember, the percentage you get paid is a percentage of what the advertiser pays for an ad to play. It is not a percentage of what your referral receives.

The commission structure is currently as follows:

Ads played on your own sites: 25% Ads played on your referral’s sites: 5% Ads played on your referral’s referral’s sites: 5%

2. They also give commissions if you sign people up to have their own ads played on other people’s websites. In other words, you can refer people to advertise with this program and generate commissions on that as well.

3. It is free to sign up with Pay Per Play, and it only takes a couple of minutes. So really there is no risk involved.

4. One of the reasons that Pay Per Play has not yet taken off to its full potential is because there are a lot more webmasters who have signed up to run the ads, than there are ad publishers. This is because the referral program has been so popular to people like you and me!

Voice2Page (the company that runs Pay Per Play) and its affiliates are currently working on recruiting new ad publishers.

A major accomplishment in this direction was getting the recent BPA Audit completed. Getting this completed takes the brakes off of recruiting additional advertisers.

5. I did a calculation recently with my own Pay Per Play account. In a given period of time I earned about $14.00. Not very impressive, right? So then why am I promoting this?

Well, in that period of time, my referral’s ads played about once per 20 page impressions. In other words, if Pay Per Play would be at its full potential, with as many ads as there are advertisers, my commission would be about 20 times as much for that period of time ($280). This is just commissions I would earn on ads playing on other people’s websites. But there is more to it - it only reflects the traffic on sites where the PPP code has been embedded. Many webmasters (including my own referrals), have not yet placed the PPP code on their sites.

So what if, a few months or a year from now, Pay Per Play does take off? What if it even begins to replace Adsense, or TV Advertising? At that point we might find numerous companies wanting to participate in the program (which is far less expensive for them, than other advertising methods).

That would mean that anyone who thought fast at the beginning of the program will be duly rewarded.

What if you sign up 50 webmasters for the program? Depending on the traffic their sites get, you could theoretically wind up with hundreds or thousands of dollars per month in commissions, just from the ads played on their sites.

Of course there is always the possibility that Pay Per Play never pans out to what we hope it will be. And if we take the trouble of spending a few minutes signing up and promoting it now, we might kick ourselves later for wasting that 20 minutes.

But then again, what if it does take off. What if it becomes the new Adsense? Well, if that happens, I think that those of us who didn’t risk wasting those 2 to 20 minutes will be kicking ourselves a lot harder.

The fact is that Pay Per Play looks like it could become really big. If it does, those who got in early can consider themselves lucky. And if it doesn’t, nothing is really lost, as it didn’t cost anything to start off with.

Many of the frustrated souls just quit. Some just continue to struggle.

I sympathize ladies and gentlemen. It still happens to me. It doesn’t stop me anymore, though. It might slow me down but I keep pressing on until I understand and can handle it.

Sometime a little detail can really cause problems...listen to this. I almost had to be hauled to the looney bin when I struggled with a paypal button for an entire day and part of the next. But, in a moment of clarity, I got it. I’m past that.

And it’s a good thing...try making money online without being able to be paid!

Damn the obstacles! If you want to be an Internet Marketer, do this...pick the first thing you need to know and practice it until you know how to do it. Then go right to the next thing.

Action is the key to success.

I had a real block about building webpages in an HTML editing program. I chose NVU because it was free, someone I knew also used it, and I had a good tutorial for it!

I had such a good experience with the tutorial and NVU webpage bulder that I took the tutorial and other information and built a master resell rights package out of it.

Now, my customers who need to be able to build a webpage, can chose to get all the information for about seven dollars and use it for themselves, or they can get the rights and license as well and have a product to sell to help others.

Things happen! I wanted to be able to build a webpage. I was tired of being afraid of the idea and it was a skill I really needed. So I pushed.

I ended up building one of my first websites with content on “How to Build Webpages” and a business opportunity back end sale built in. Plus a list builder. My first business.

That online business happened sort of organically and that can happen to you.

You just start going down the road of acquiring the skills and tools necessary for IM success and you’ll pass by something that gives you an idea.

I say, think like a marketer. (Someone who likes the idea of selling on the ‘net). That can be you. Just do it! Don’t quit.

You know, it has to be that some people quit at a point where, if they changed just one thing, they would hit the home run.

Could it be that you are worried you don’t know enough? It doesn’t matter. Do what you know now - and then when you hit an obstacle, learn what you need to know to get around that obstacle. A lot of learning the basics, maybe most of it, is learning by doing.

You see, right now, you don’t know what you don’t know. Want to know something kind of hairy? Neither does anybody else! How could they? They don’t know you!

But, my point is that you should do what I did after I studied the “basics” for a few months. I threw together what had to be one of the most amateurish websites in history and built an opt-in page because I know that a good online operation has to have a list to re-market to.

I started building a list and re-marketing to the people on it.

I began to write articles to get targeted traffic! Get this though… the articles served a purpose I should have seen, but didn’t. It wasn’t just traffic!

It was much more than that. It did double duty. I wrote an article that drove traffic to my salespages and, more importantly, I learned, really learned, what I needed to know.

Just like back in school, when I was in university, when you really needed to learn something you would research the topic and write a paper on it. So it turned out that the writing of articles with my link to my webpage, was the mechanism by which I was learning! And getting traffic! It works!

Worked for me...and I’m still doing it and learning what I need to learn.

That which you research and write about becomes your actual knowledge base! It’s real.

The best, surest, way to get started is just that. And that is to just start! And, as you go along, you can keep a journal about it. It’s all I have ever done!

So get started. Rededicate yourself to learning what you need to learn. Improve along the way. The Internet is the ideal place for failure.

That’s right! Nothing will teach you what not to do better than failure! And failing on the internet is very inexpensive compared to the rest of the world and it’s just plain cheap regardless. Don’t fear failure...that, the fear of failure, is what stops most people.

So, pick a niche (a market). If you are having trouble joining an online Internet Marketing School can really be a big help.

Are you looking for ways to make money on the internet without spending any of your money? You’re in luck...you really can! And you don’t need your own product or service.

How is that possible?

Maybe you have heard of affiliate marketing. The basic concept is someone who is selling a product or service allows affiliates ( you ) to market what they are selling and pay a commission for each sale made. It is one of the creative ways to make money online, and is a win-win for both affiliate and seller.

Large corporate retailers such as Wal-Mart, Blockbuster, and even Ebay.com, etc has affiliate programs all the way down to someone selling their latest e-book or piece of software. You can search for affiliate programs or go to sites such as Clickbank or Commission Junction to find products.

If you are a newbie to internet marketing, this is the best way to break in. In fact, I can’t think of an other easy way to make money online.

If you want to have make affiliate home based business income, here are some tips to get started:

1) Look for affiliates who pay a large percentage commission. Preferable would be 50-75%. But it just depends on the sales price as well.

2) Do they offer support? Do they have marketing materials and answer questions?

3) Try to build residual income. How? Look for subscription services, sites that charge their customers a monthly fee. A good affiliate will pay you a commission monthly as long as the customer keeps their subscription. Why start all over each month from 0 trying to make sales, when you can go into the next month with money already on the books and build on that? If affiliate marketing is going to be your thing, this is really the only way to make money online and work from home. You must build a residual income!

4) Give yourself a budget....pay-per-click advertising is popular among a lot of newbies who don’t know much better, but that can get expensive quick, and to be quite truthful, you will have a hard time succeeding here if you don’t really know what you are doing. Rather, focus on a method that works....article marketing. Write reviews of your product, target keywords that people would use to search for that product, work them into an article about a topic this product can help them with, and provide a link to the sales page in your resource box.

5) Target keywords that have less competition. You are more likely to succeed there than one that everyone else is targeting as well. You want something that gets traffic, but has fewer competitors. Google’s keyword tool can assist you with this.

You can’t find a much easier way to make money online. Don’t expect overnight results, but if you stay at it, learn all you can, and stay consistent, you will make money.

Are you are aware that there are a lot of people making money online today? There are more millionaires today than every before. You have probably heard about some of the higher profile Internet Marketers who rake in millions of dollars every year. Plus you have an advantage… today there is so much more information available to help you make money online. Most of the big names in IM didn’t have all this information available to them and had to figure it all out through trial and error.
